| Dream: My dream is not to save the world, for I am not the Messiah. My dream is to change the world; as much as I can. The change I would like to see is peace and prosperity, and through the Gallagher Foundation, I am given the platform to achieve this, together with other passionate and patriotic youngsters of South Africa. My immediate goal is to get my B Com CA degree and Post Graduate Diploma in Accounting. Education, after all, is an instrument with which one can change the world. I will then persuade my articles (Training Inside Public Practice) with any one of the big firms. When I qualify as a Chartered Accountant, even the sky is no limit. I will work at Auditor and General for a few years. I will then work for an investment bank or company, like Old Mutual for a few years. After much maturation, I will branch out as an entrepreneur into property development. I will strive to support redressing old past injustices. However, as much as we have a past we can’t deny, we also have a future which we can’t deny either. We have a history as a nation, which still affects our politics, economy and social interactions. If education was an instrument to change the world, then South Africa would be uchanged. The education situation is disappointing. After acquiring adequate resources(financially, contactwise etc), I will either start a foundation to assist students from improvished backgrounds who have a potential to get financial assistance to enter into the top schools. I could also found a small school to focus on science, maths and commerce/ entrepreneurship for disadvantaged gifted learners. These are really big dreams, but everything I have achieved has been almost out of reality. However, with the assistance of others, a faith as little as the mustard seed, nothing is impossible. No mountain is unmovable. |
